Add new Users to your WordPress Blog/Website:

Step 1: Login to your Blog/Website and go to your Dashboard.

Step 2: In the left side of your Dashboard you will find a link named “Users”. Just click on the link and the page will reload to a new page.

Step 3: On the page you will find an option “Add new” in the top column of the page. Click on the link and you will be directed to an “Add New User” page.

Step 4: There you would just have to fill up the correct details of the new user.

The Username field is a mandatory field, you must have to fill up the user name in the box which is easy to pronounce, write and remember ( based on your choice).

Then next is the Email field which is also mandatory, Fill the genuine Email address of the new user in the box. ( Double check the email address ).

Then fill the first name and the last name of the user with an information the users’s Website. ( These fields are not mandatory, the user can fill these by his own ).

Now the important step is to choose an strong password for the user. From our recommendation we would suggest you to use “Password Generator” which would help you in generating a nice and strong password. The strength indicator will show you the strength of the password.

(Below you will find a check box which suggests you to send the password to the new user.)

The last and the final option is to appoint a role to the new user. As we know that Administrator is the most biggest and powerful role who can access all the contents and can perform all tasks on your Blog/Website. The Subscriber is the least powerful in all the users. It is upon you to assign a role according to the work you want an user to do.

  1. Administrator.
  2. Editor.
  3. Contributor.
  4. Author.
  5. Subscriber.

Administrator: An administrator in a WordPress Blog/Website can manage and handle all the different jobs out there. The admin has entire ownership of the Website and controls all the different users. Admin in the Blog/Website can import, export, can change themes, install plugins, can manage all the settings.

Editor:  An editor can do some of the major tasks like edit, publish, handle comments, links, tags, and can also upload media in the Blog/Website.

Contributor:  A contributor can only edit posts but cannot publish his posts. They cannot edit others posts, contributor can also cannot access themes, plugins, widgets etc. If the admin approves the posts of the contributor then the contributor cannot edit the post after that.

Author: An author can edit, publish, and can delete his posts. It is a role which is appointed to many users.

Subscriber: A subscriber has only the permission to write posts and comments. Subscriber usually are created to leave comments and they can also download contents from the site.

Now decide what role you want to assign to a new user.  Then just click on the “Add New User” , your user will be added.
